In an effort to find homes for the hundreds of cats, dogs and other small pets that come into its shelters during the summer months, the Dumb Friends League is holding the Wags & Purrs Adopt-a-thon on Friday and Saturday, August 8 and 9. We are extending our hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both days at both shelter locations. Visit either Dumb Friends League shelter location: 2080 S. Quebec Street in Denver or the Buddy Center at 4556 Castleton Court in Castle Rock. Adoption fees for the animals are as follows: Due to volume, the adoption fee for cats over one year old is only $55 at this time. Adoption fees include a check for general good health and behavior, preliminary vaccinations, a collar and I.D. tag, microchip identification implant, spay or neuter surgery and a leash or carrier. Have you captured your pet's unique personality? If so, enter your fantastic photos in the Dumb Friends League 2009 Calendar Contest. The entry fee is $35 per photo, which includes a full color calendar that will be mailed to you in the fall. Photos of cats, dogs, birds and other small pets are eligible.
